Experience

The church currently offers Christian Education through a more contemporary format under Small Groups for both youth and adults. All groups meet from 9:15 am – 10:00 am. There are two options for youth, one for middle/high school levels (grades 6-12), and another for children up through fifth grade.

Adult Small Groups

Led by Carol Himmelright at 9:15a.m.  The topic is “The Forgiveness of Jesus”.

The new class “How Renewing Your Mind Can Change Your Life” will begin on Sunday, July 13th.  Are your thoughts drawing you closer to God or pulling you away?  Are they building you up or tearing you down?  Like molten glass, our lives are constantly being shaped and molded by our thoughts.  Join Kyle Idleman in this five session video Bible Study as he forges a path through the world’s distractions and lies and gets to the heart of true spiritual growth: the renewing of your mind.  This isn’t a study on the power of positive thinking but about learning how God made your brain.  Learn how setting your thoughts on Christ can create new patterns of thought that will change your life.

Youth Small Groups

The youth small group continues to support growth in faith and knowledge of God’s will and work in our lives. There, they learn of God’s love and faithfulness and God’s plan for salvation through His Son, as presented in both the Old and New Testaments. Our Middle and high school classes meet upstairs in the Church Annex building as they continue their studies of faith, discipleship, and service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is Fellowship?

Fellowship begins at 10:00 a.m. Each week, you will find a variety of treats, including coffee and juice, cookies, cakes, fruit, and a host of other goodies.

What time is worship?

The time for worship begins at 10:30 a.m.

How long is worship?

Worship generally lasts about one and a half hours, but our time with God is unlimited.

What can I expect to experience in worship?

Our worship shares and honors the traditions of all generations of the past, present, and future, sharing in progressive growth while being conformed to the image of Christ and honoring the truth of God’s Holy Word through the Holy Spirit. Here, you will find the use of scripture from both the Old and New Testament, music for all ages, including an organ, piano, guitars, percussions, and flute. Depending on the season of the year, there is something for everyone, including an occasional choir. Sermons range in a gospel-centered style, ranging from topics taken from the Revised Common Lectionary for Sundays and Holidays to topics from a Sermon Series chosen by the pastor.

What should I expect to wear?

“Come as you are” provides a general description of casual dress attire. You will find the pastor generally wearing blue jeans combined with a dress shirt. Some of the ladies come in dresses, a few of the men wear suits and ties, and others in sneakers. We want people to be comfortable but also in good taste, meaning yes, you must wear a shirt, pants, and shoes. Depending on the season of the year, you might find more people dressed one way or another. However, God is more interested in the condition of people’s hearts.

What is available for children?

During worship, we pause for a time of the passing of the peace. At this moment, teachers assist children in leaving the sanctuary, allowing parents to settle in and listen to the sermon. Aided by adult leaders and other assistants, children find time to participate in an age-appropriate time of learning, sometimes with crafts and snacks.

Where can I park?

Open Parking is available along Prince Street. The church has two additional parking areas: one up the alley on the north side of Prince Street and a small parking area down the alley on the south side of Prince Street. Signs are at the entrances to each alley.

Are there other options during the week?

Yes! Women’s Small Group Study generally meets on one Tuesday each month in Galbreath Hall at 1:00 p.m. The group focuses on developing a deeper relationship with our God, guided by Biblical studies and scripture, prayer, and fellowship with each other. New members are encouraged and welcome to join.

Where Can I find information about Membership?

The church membership falls under what our denomination designates as “Covenant Partnership.” Interested individuals should speak to the pastor about attending a “Covenant Partner Inquiry Class.” The next class will be scheduled for January 2026.
